Repair PDF
Fix a damaged PDF that won’t open. Nothing uploaded.
The file is rebuilt from what can still be read. If parts of a page are gone for good, the pages that can be seen are saved as pictures.
How it works
- Pick your files.Pick the damaged PDF.
- Your phone does the work.Tap Repair PDF.
- Save the result.Save the rebuilt file.
Why PDFs break
A download that stopped early, an email app that mangled an attachment, a phone that ran out of space while saving: the file is still mostly there, but its index (the table that tells apps where each page is) is broken or missing, so apps refuse to open it.
How the repair works
First, every piece of the file is read in order, without trusting the broken index, and a clean file is written with a new one. Text stays text, and links and fonts are kept.
If some pages can’t be rebuilt that way, a second method draws every page that can still be seen and saves those pages as pictures. You’ll be told when that happens.
Good to know
- Parts of a file that were never saved can’t be brought back. If a download stopped halfway, the last pages may be missing or blank.
- Your original file is left as it is.
- If the pages came back as pictures, run the result through OCR PDF to make the text searchable again.
Questions
Can every PDF be repaired?
No. If the file is empty, or isn’t really a PDF (a web page saved with a .pdf name, for example), there is nothing to rebuild, and you’ll be told so.
Does it work on password-protected PDFs?
Yes, if you know the password: you’ll be asked for it.
Are my files uploaded?
No. The repair happens in your browser, and it works in airplane mode.
