Compare PDF

How it works

  1. Pick your files.Pick the original PDF, then the changed one.
  2. Your phone does the work.Tap Compare.
  3. Save the result.Read the list of changes, and save both files with the changes marked.

Every change, word by word

Someone sends back a contract, a lease or a quote with “a few small edits”. Instead of reading both versions side by side, compare them here: every word that was added, removed or changed is listed with its page, so nothing slips past you.

Both files are saved with the changes marked: added and changed words highlighted in green in the new version, removed words struck out in red in the original. The marks are standard PDF comments, so they show up in any PDF app, with a note saying what changed.

Or lay one on top of the other

Switch the view to Overlay to compare the look instead of the words. Each page of the two files is laid on top of the other: what is in both fades to grey, what is only in the original shows red, and what is only in the changed file shows blue. It catches a moved signature, a new stamp or an edited drawing, and it works on scans too. You save one PDF of the overlaid pages.

Good to know

  • Text view compares the words, not the look: a change of font, colour or layout alone isn’t listed there. Overlay shows it.
  • Scanned PDFs have no text for the Text view. Use Overlay, or run them through OCR PDF first.
  • Contracts and offers are exactly the kind of files you don’t want to upload. Here, both stay on your device.

Questions

Which file goes first?

The original first, then the changed version. If you picked them the other way round, use the arrows to swap them before comparing.

Does it compare pictures?

The Text view compares only the words. The Overlay view compares everything you can see on the page, pictures and layout included.

Are my files uploaded?

No. The comparison runs in your browser, and it works in airplane mode.
